Sønderby Øst is a flat water spot on the north shore of Ringkøbing Fjord, in the northwestern part of the fjord. Shallow and sheltered waters, ideal for beginners. From the north shore, fetch is maximum in southerly winds (20-30 km across the fjord).

Shallow waters — risk of bottom contact. Shallows and shifting sandbanks. Proximity to the sand barrier (Holmsland Klit) to the west which can create turbulence in westerly winds.
