Balka is a 1.3 km sandy beach on the southeast coast of Bornholm. It's the main spot for kitesurfing lessons on the island, thanks to its shallow water and sandy bottom. The spot works in easterly winds (NE to SE), with the biggest waves in northeast winds. Crystal-clear water typical of Bornholm.

Beginner
Chop to waves of 1 to 3 m in onshore winds. Flat water patches between the waves. Shallow water near shore — standing depth for a good distance. Crystal-clear water. Temperature: 18-23°C in summer, 8-13°C in spring. Wetsuit always required.
Many swimmers in summer — very popular beach. Beach volleyball courts on the sand (launch/landing obstacles). Ship traffic. Season: April to November.
