Hara is a kitesurfing spot located on the coast of Suruga Bay, near Numazu in Shizuoka Prefecture. This spot offers a spectacular view of Mount Fuji on clear days, creating a unique sailing backdrop in the world. Suruga Bay generates south/southwest thermal breezes in summer, while northeast winds dominate in winter. The water body is relatively sheltered compared to the more exposed spots on the Enshu coast, with moderate waves. The bottom is made of pebbles and black volcanic sand typical of this region. The spot is suitable for intermediates with a good launch area. Numazu is easily accessible from Tokyo by Shinkansen (about 1 hour). Several seafood restaurants at Numazu port are worth a visit after a session.
