Base Saltpan is a kitesurfing spot near Tuticorin in southern Tamil Nadu, India. Located near salt pans (salt evaporation ponds), this spot offers shallow flat water conditions that are ideal for freestyle and learning. The area receives strong NE monsoon winds from October to March.

The salt pan areas create wide, shallow lagoons with butter-flat water when the wind blows from the NE. This makes Base Saltpan one of the best flat water spots in southern India. Wind speeds can reach 15-25 knots during peak monsoon. The shallow water and sandy bottom make it beginner-friendly. Warm water year-round.
