Overview

Sabae Beach is a kitesurfing spot on Lake Biwa, Shiga Prefecture. Lake Biwa is Japan's largest lake and offers inland water conditions with thermal winds and lake breezes. Prevailing winds vary but south thermals work well in summer.

The water is lacustrine, with no tides and no ocean swell. Conditions are generally flat, ideal for beginners and intermediate riders.
